BOTANICAL ORIGINS

Re-Bloom: Beginning with an apple

An apple’s story can extend beyond the fruit itself. Re-Bloom follows botanical origins to explore the relationship between bio-based inputs and leather-like surfaces.

From a whole apple to the pomace left after processing, material possibilities emerge on another side of something familiar. A residue from food production becomes one potential input for bio-based materials. Re-Bloom begins with this tangible origin, extending the material story beyond its surface and back to its starting point.

Apple is one of several starting points. Resources such as bamboo fiber and coffee grounds offer other routes into material development, each with its own origin and formulation. Re-Bloom brings these strands into view together, organizing the collection through fruit and plant references as an invitation to explore further.

Origin gives a material its story; the surface brings that story into design. A plane of color, a fine grain and the thickness revealed by a curved edge translate an abstract material idea into tangible details. The tones of fruit and plants enter a dialogue with the colors of the collection, connecting botanical origins with a leather-like touch.

Re-Bloom follows the connection between botanical origins and material expression. Across the S series, colors and grains suggest different beginnings for an object: a restrained surface, a bolder silhouette, a small detail with a distinct presence. What begins with a plant continues through design, becoming another part of everyday life.
